DEMARE: Ah, Linda Blair!
Thank You! Yes, this is a very
interesting film. Some of it scary, some
of it sexy, and some of it just down right hilarious! There are no shower scenes, unfortunately,
but some partial nudity. There is one
erotic girl on girl scene between two female inmates in their cell. I am not in that scene. Then, there is one sexy scene between my
character and my cellmate, but it is not a sex scene, no kissing or humping,
very sexy, but clean. This is certainly
a genre film, but it is a low-budget horror film and not soft-core porn. Please keep in mind there is a big difference
between the two.
FREEJOSE: You have to admit there is often a fine line
between soft-core porn and low budget horror, right? It is a blurry line at best and when I'm
usually watching these kinds of movies at 2AM after a fifth of Morgan's, well,
everything is blurry.
Julie Strain, a B movie legend who I know you worked with in
"Azira: Blood from the Sand", certainly crosses over the
Horror/Skin-e-max line frequently. To
say she is occasionally naked would be like saying that Paris Hilton is
occasionally changing boyfriends. She
was even a Penthouse Pet of the Year.
What was it like working with Julie? Is her career one you would like to emulate
and how do you feel about nudity?
DEMARE: Julie Strain was an absolute professional. She was on time, knew her scenes, and was a
pleasure to work with during principal photography. Yes, she does a lot of nudity, and she was a
Penthouse Pet of the Year. There is a line. Some cross it and some don't. Many Scream Queens who stay on the B level of
the horror genre films explore and often digress into soft-core porn. Beverly Lynne is another example. I have worked with her also. She was very nice and a hard worker.
Some actresses who begin to achieve recognition on the B
level films who may happen to have opportunities to move up to the A level, in
fact, do move up. Raquel Welch, Anne
Bancroft, Dee Wallace Stone, and Sandra Bullock (even though she wasn't really
a Scream Queen, but she did begin to get recognition in B level horror films)
are some of the actresses that come to mind.
I do nudity when it is appropriate for my character in a
scene, but that is not all I do. I stay
above that "line." Even if it is full nudity like taking off a robe and diving in a pool, it
is clean.
I aspire to move up into the A level of horror films,
sci-fi, action, thriller, and drama genre films by utilizing the opportunities
that I am happy to have had on the B level.
FREEJOSE: Sounds like a winning plan to me.
